Dad back in the day.

The team August 2024.

Like many businesses, Turners Occupational Health & Wellbeing Services started at a kitchen table.

In 2017, our founder, Tracy Turner, was a week into retirement. A seasoned nurse with over 30 years of experience and 20 years specialising in occupational health, she wasn’t quite ready to give it up. What started as dipping her toe into contract work quickly grew, leveraging social media to build a substantial client portfolio and help increasingly more employers and their teams benefit from best-practice occupational health.

Building a family business

Tracy found renewed energy and purpose in the business, and seeing the vast opportunity for growth wanted to share the journey with her family. In 2018, recognising the business's potential, Tracy’s son, Harry, trained as an occupational health technician and joined the team.

They relocated to a small office in Attleborough shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic, which posed severe challenges for small businesses. Fortunately, the business stayed afloat through delivering online mental health training and COVID-19 assessments.

The pandemic's aftermath highlighted the need for occupational health support. Many responsible businesses sought to ensure employee welfare, whether their teams worked in offices, on-site, in lorry cabs, or at home.

After many months of isolation in lockdown, the demand for in-person healthcare and wellbeing services also surged. Turners responded by offering medical foot care and ear wax micro-suction, services highly valued by the community. The growing demand saw the team expand, taking on additional team members including daughter-in-law, Emma making it a thoroughly family affair.

A new chapter, a new purpose-built clinic

Having outgrown five locations in six years, the now 13-strong team needed a larger, unified space.

The old ironmongers in the heart of Attleborough had formerly been owned and renovated by Tracy’s father in the 1980s. Having passed to Tracy and her sister, it had been tenanted by the stalwart local business "Nuts and Bolts" for more than 20 years. In perfect timing, Nuts and Bolts were ready to retire just as Turners was ready to write the next chapter of their growth story. Now able to move to the much larger premises, Turners is able to bring their team under one roof.

With all hands on deck - including the grandkids - the building has been renovated into a purpose-built clinic over the last few months. Turners Occupational Health & Wellbeing Services now boasts five specialist treatment rooms and communal areas for training and workshops.
